Moved from another blog……..These photos were taken near area 51 at a lake which was close to the town of Alamo, Nevada.
I didn’t remember the name of this lake initially. My husband remarked that the lake was probably dried up since I was there in 2016 so I looked it up and found out the name of the refuge.
This was back in 2016. It wasn’t a real good time in my life. I had left a male friend’s house after his church’s junior pastor started complaining that I needed to leave because the church people were gossiping about us and the pastor said the church didn’t approve of two people living together without the benefit of marriage. A relationship wasn’t the reason I moved in with him. I moved in so I could do the remodeling on my house. The male friend and his son wanted to move in because he(the friend) had lost his driver’s license due to a DUI. He first talked to my husband(we were separated) about moving in after my tenant died. This man was a manipulator and started talking about me being his girlfriend and even talked about marriage. He wasn’t a good person and hid behind christianity and the church.
It was a very bad time for me. I’d left his house in 2015 and headed west to California. When I got to Cali, I then traveled to Arizona(specifically Yuma and Lake Havasu City) then on to Nevada(Las Vegas which was on my bucket list, I didn’t like it, I stayed on the outskirts and in Searchlight) and Tonopah. When I left Tonopah I headed towards ExtraTerrestrial Highway and Area 51. I didn’t see anything unusual. I went through Alamo where I stopped and got a snack at a convenience store there and then passed by this lake and wildlife refuge and stopped and took photos. While there I walked down a trail for a little ways but when I saw the paw prints of what appeared to be a big cat of some kind I only walked a short distance and turned around. I don’t know what animals make this area home so I’ve no idea what it could have been. I assume it was a big cat(bobcat perhaps) that lived in the refuge. Mountain lions also call Nevada home and the Canada lynx once did. According to google bobcats are nocturnal and rarely spotted by humans. I’ve seen one or two at night wandering the side of the road.
I stopped here on my way back to Las Vegas and am just now sharing the post here on my new blog.
I’ve been to Area 51 twice. I was first in this area in 2014. The pictures were taken with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Here’s a good resource on America’s national wildlife refuges.
Here’s a wild and scenic Nevada calender.
