This is a car from my Uncle sold a few years go. This posted is being moved from another blog.
My uncle buys and restores old, classic cars. He’s been doing it for years. A few years ago he started teaching me about engines and body work. My Dad taught me a lot about cars when I was a child. He was always calling me outside to help him work on something. Sometimes it was a car, sometimes a lawnmower. He also liked to work on toasters and coffee makers. I’m not sure what his fascination with those were but he liked to work(tinker he called it) on them and he often got them working. He would go to the Black & Decker store and behind the store they would throw many coffee makers and toasters in the dumpster. One time he got stuck because he climbed in it. A man came along with a ladder and helped him out.
I like learning about engines and body work but not as much as other things. I’ve always been interested in cars especially anything having to do with the inner workings of an automobile. Partly because the more I know the more it helps me when it comes to getting parts replaced. Over the years I’ve had mechanics tell me stuff was wrong with my car that wasn’t which most anyone will tell you that mechanics have a tendency to take advantage of women but it’s everyone not just women because very few people know that much about these newer cars. You have practically be a rocket scientist to know how to work on them and even then some of them would have a problem with these new vehicles.
I personally love the 1957 Chevy Belair and it’s my favorite although I like all old cars whether they’re restored or rusty and sitting out in a field somewhere. In fact they make for the best photos.
This is one of my uncle’s recent finds that he’s now selling. It’s a beautiful car and well worth what he’s asking at $14,000 and it only has 60,000 miles on it. That’s great. His words, “It floats down the road as it should, it’s an american icon of a car.” It is gorgeous. If I had the money I would buy this car but I can’t. 05-02-2010 is when he first listed it and I think he had to list it a couple of times before he sold it.
